MINIMALISSIMO EDITED

What's happening?

Hello. Another mid-week letter for you. Normal programming will resume on the weekend. I'm back from my Italy trip feeling quite physically exhausted, but mentally fresh. I'm enjoying diving into design research and curating some beautiful works to share over the next couple of weeks. I'm also exploring a new Minimalissimo project that goes beyond single product design and ventures into a marketplace. Grand plans and all that. It's very early days so there's not a great deal to share at the moment, but just know something quite exciting is brewing. I'm also considering a new series of 3D models that you can download and print yourself; specifically three desk objects. Although I have a handful of ideas, requests and suggestions are welcome. Now let's dive into some recent features.

Features

EDAHA CHAIR

GamFratesi took inspiration from nature; specifically referencing the shapes of branches and leaves to create the smoothly curved Edaha chair for Japanese brand Koyori. The chair is made entirely from veneer wood, and the designers aimed for it to look industrialised yet express the beauty of nature.

HEPA VACUUM

It might seem a little unusual to discover modern cleaners with traditional design features. Enter Airsign and their beautiful yet affordable jet HEPA vacuum to disrupt the market. A vacuum is only as powerful as its motor. And Airsign’s 250+ airwatt motor can hold its own against any vacuum on the market. The motor has enough juice to power an electric scooter. In the HEPA vacuum, that’s enough power to keep dirt up at night.

S1 CHAPTER

Sebastian Schönheit is a Berlin-based industrial designer with a unique authorial approach and is behind the design of CHAPTER; a minimal wall-mounted foldable desk. Produced by German furniture brand LOEHR, it is an understated, wall-mounted item of furniture, reduced in form to lines and surfaces.

THE TIMMELSJOCH EXPERIENCE

Seemingly precariously cantilevered, this faceted museum in the Alps by South Tyrolean architect Werner Tscholl is a striking minimalist sculpture. The Timmelsjoch is the deepest, non-glaciated indentation in the main Alpine ridge between the Reschen Pass and the Brenner Pass.
