Our Personal Winters
reflecting on our reaction to hardship
![]() |
Well hello there, happy Tuesday!
NOTE: Today’s missive is the second of five Tuesday newsletters devoted to a book near and dear to my heart: Wintering by Katherine May. You can always view the full series at my archive.

Over the years, I have honed my ability to know what I feel comfortable sharing with the general public and what is best kept close to my heart and in my close circle. I often don’t feel comfortable sharing the precise details of hardship with people who won’t hold the information with care, but I always feel comfortable letting the world know that something happened and that I am tender. That tenderness is what tells me I am needing to winter.
Everyone has their own instances of life’s winters, and what qualifies as one is deeply personal.
