I have only been out of the elementary library since January 2022, but it seems like SO long in terms of books that I missed reading! One of my very favorite parts of being a librarian is staying on top of best-of lists and recommendation roundups and new releases, so I have a lot of reading to do to catch up on what I missed in 2022 ~ mostly in the middle grade space.
I am very fortunate that I am heading into a library that has been meticulously maintained and am replacing a librarian I know well and whose book choices closely mirror my own ~ this is very different than the last two libraries I entered and it will make my transition so much easier. It also means that I won’t have to do a ton of catch up to do in terms of ordering, which is wonderful, but I still want catch up on awareness of hot titles in all genres and read a bunch of my favorite middle grade genre: contemporary realistic fiction.
