Just One Thing Vol. 1
it's all I've got today

I mean, it was inevitable, right? I have been publishing two newsletters per week for over a year with almost zero breaks. I took no time off this summer even while traveling, and pushed pushed pushed through.
And now I have hit a wall. It’s not that I don’t have anything to write, it’s just that life is pushing down and pulling me elsewhere and my brain might be temporarily broken.
The political hellscape. School shooting and a political murder. Dysregulated middle school students. Books cascading out of my office waiting to be processed. Tech issues that will never stop being my problem at work. Increased union leadership duties. Adventures on my weekends. Getting my 2025 Falling for Romance collection finished and sent out justintime on Tuesday.
I need a minute, my friends.
I have just one thing to share with you today, a very lighthearted thing. And I won’t be in your inboxes on Tuesday, but I’ll be back next Saturday with … something!
Just One Thing - the Dorito Walk
I get home from work every day very frazzled, very hungry, exhausted and always craving salt. My three pups are bouncing off the walls desperate for a walk, and no, they say, I can NOT change out of my work clothes first.
So we take a Dorito walk.

Me in my work clothes, them in their furry fur, me with a massive handful of Doritos. We walk. We breathe. I eat.
I highly recommend this, my friends. 10/10.
Thanks for stopping by!

You do soooo much, between your work at school, the union, parenting, and this newsletter. You deserve breaks.
Oh my gosh, take a break! I don't know how you do it all and churn out such a great newsletter. We'll be here when you get back.
I am just emerging from the depths of a Substack break because of all the things and am just now catching up that you're here on Buttondown! Enjoy those Dorito walks!
You deserve a break and some Doritos. 🙂
I feel like I'm maybe Doritos' biggest fan? But only the red bag ;-)
