Fun Summer Work Reading

my delightful summer office and a summer reading project

Happy Tuesday, my friends!

This is my first newsletter of officially being on summer break in 2025! However, anyone who knows the world of education knows that summer break doesn’t actually mean fully turning off the tap of work. I have so many tasks to accomplish over the next 9 weeks, including a gazillion purchase orders to input, collection management tasks to complete, curriculum to develop, summer institute PD courses to work on, and of course, book orders to compile. However, any hours that I can work on things at my dining room table, back porch, or summer office, I consider a win.

One thing I do every summer that is technically work, but doesn’t feel remotely like it, is READ! I brought home two huge bags of middle grade and young adult books that I have been eyeing up this school year, as well as all of the books for my annual summer reading project. Will I actually read every single one of these books? Well, probably not because I’ll get distracted by other MG/YA titles in Sora, or at the public library, etc, but at least I have a lot to choose from!

What’s the summer reading project, you ask?
