Joy > Peace
Don't wait for the noise to stop
We often confuse a good life with a quiet one.
We wait for the emails to stop or the project to end. We look for a state where nothing can go wrong. We think of this as Peace (and Happiness).
The problem is that this Peace is fragile. It requires the world to cooperate. The moment a crisis hits or the schedule breaks, this peace evaporates.
Joy is grittier.
Joy doesn't need perfect conditions. It can exist right in the middle of a difficult Tuesday or a messy project. It doesn't wait for the noise to stop; it creates its own signal.
When we prioritize Joy over Peace, our experience shifts:
- From Waiting to Living: Peace is about waiting for the storm to pass. Joy is learning to laugh in the rain.
- From Fragile to Robust: A peaceful state is easily disturbed by the outside world. A joyful state is resilient because it generates its own energy from within.
- From Retreat to Engagement: Peace asks us to step back to protect our calm. Joy asks us to step forward and engage with what is right in front of us.
What if we didn't wait for things to calm down before we started living?
What is one small thing you can enjoy right now, without needing to fix or finish anything else first?
In celebration,
