Experimentation > Vision
What if we didn't need a vision to get started?
"Start with a vision"
It's advice we hear often. But what if we don't have a clear vision? What if we're not even sure what we want to achieve?
A fixed vision can actually hold us back. When we focus too much on one vision, it prevents us from seeing other promising opportunities. It creates pressure and anxiety as we strive to achieve that one specific outcome.
Maybe it's OK to not have a vision. What if we just started experimenting to see where things go?
Experimentation is about exploring, learning, and adapting as we go. It's about trying things out, gathering feedback, and continuously adjusting our approach. It's about life appreciated and enjoyed one day at a time.
Experimentation offers powerful benefits:
- Learning by doing: We get direct experience and feedback.
- Adaptability: We get to adjust our approach as we learn and grow.
- Discovery: We can find unexpected and valuable insights.
- Reduced fear of failure: Every "failure" becomes a learning opportunity.
So, the next time you're feeling stuck, waiting for a vision, consider starting a tiny experiment. Because sometimes the best way to find our path is to get a little lost :-)
What's one small experiment you can try today?

This article genuinely makes me feel a bit better about my current situation. I'm starting an indoor place where people can play Cornhole, in Buenos Aires, where Cornhole doesn't exist. I've been testing the market to see if this could actually take off, and I'm starting to see that this game is being enjoyed by all types of people. We hosted a public tournament and there were kids as young as about 11 years old competing with retirees in their 70s. We had wealthy businessmen and those living on welfare both enjoying the game together. My business vision, while still blurry, is becoming a bit more clear through experimentation.
Thank you for the comment, Artie. It's wonderful to see how you are taking the experimental approach to move your business idea forward. I can actually feel your enthusiasm loud and clear through your words! :)
