Soundless FV: Content Warnings — THE MILK+ VISUAL TRIBUNE
Today, we go over slight changes made to the content warnings that you see on startup. Or, more specifically, the third screen of them.
Do you remember this image?
This was the original third screen of content warnings. It was an intentional parody of a similar warning SayoOshi has on startup, as well as a genuine warning.
It has been slightly modified, and is now a little shorter.
Obviously, the "if the screen is the size of an ant" warning had to go, because that no longer applied. But I also chose to replace the very first one with something more specific, more respectful to a certain character in the game, more adherent to one of the final messages in the afterword, and a lot less of a SayoOshi copy-paste in general.
So, what do I mean by this new warning?
Some of you might have immediately understood. But if you don't understand, there are indeed people who choose to self-harm in this way, and seek out stories that are violent like Soundless to keep the pain going, then start to fall down a slippery slope into watching actual snuff footage. I'm speaking here as someone who used to do this to reinforce my depression: take a break!!
Nyx Fears/May puts it a lot better than I could in this segment at the end of her Disturbing Movies Iceberg Explanation (link) (note: all the things prior to this timestamp are not safe for life, tread with caution).
That concludes this pretty short issue. I had to quickly condense this and get this out because bad weather resulted in me being unable to write and schedule this last night. The next issue is more lighthearted—we're going back into design choices again, but this time, it's going to be filled with spoilers. In other words, we're getting into post-game content old and new now, yay!
