Fraction's in LA this week and I'm headed to Anaheim myself on Thursday so I'll make this brief.
First, yes! We did see the Eisner nominations and YES, we ARE up against each other in the BEST WRITER category.... Well. Our marriage had a good run, right?
Arts awards are tricky. On the one hand, what an honor! Everyone craves plaudits from their colleagues and the prestige of an Eisner nomination is as undeniable as it is genuinely humbling. On the other hand, in a collaborative art form such as ours, the contributions of one individual are inextricable from the whole. (Ditto a marriage, if that's not too twee or dorky a thing to say.) (Fuck it, even if it is twee. I think it's true.) It's both unwise and disingenuous to take these things too personally. So. We're humbled, flattered and grateful on behalf of ALL our co-creators and teams, with whom we share this recognition. We extend our congratulations to all the other nominees as well.
And now let's get back to the business of making comics, yeah?
