San Diego Comic Con update

I’ve pulled out of attending San Diego Comic-Con this year. My father is ill and I’m returning home to help him and my mom for a few weeks.
The last time this happened I didn’t tell anybody and everything was awful; this time I’m trying to Costanza myself and just do the exact opposite by going for full disclosure (it’s not, believe it or not, my natural state, especially when it deals with other people).
Kelly Sue and Lauren and Lt. Trouble will still be at SDCC; Chip, Gabriel, Fábio, David, everybody else is still going.
It sucks to miss for lots of reasons (obviously), most of all because I wanted to watch my wife win an Eisner (because she deserves it and because she always looks amazing in her Eisner get-ups), and I wanted to watch Kieron and Jamie win one and then literally physically lose it between the ceremony and Sunday afternoon. Which they will do, mark my words. But I do count myself lucky for having the kind of job and family dynamics that will allow me to step up when the occasion arises and not lose anything for it. I know not everybody has that and in this regard I am incredibly fortunate.
So, let's focus on that bit, shall we?
If we had plans to meet, my apologies. We'll catch each other sooner or later. [I'm crossing my fingers I won't have to pull out of DragonCon. For the time being and unless another one of these come along, assume I'll still be there.]
