ODY-C 11, British Fantasy Awards & Podcasts
If we had a band, , it'd be called "The World's Shittiest Cellist and "

Because, apparently, I felt concern that not enough people realized I write ODY-C in verse, I went ahead and ruined a lovely trip to Hawaii earlier this summer by going ahead and committing to writing ODY-C 11 & 12 -- the first part of our retelling of The Oresteia -- not just in verse but in mother fuckin' limerick.
I am the stupidest dumby in the whole moron factory.
That said, Ward has, yet again leveled up and produced, for eleven issues running, the best thing he's ever done. And then actually, spoilers, 12 is, somehow even better.
It is out on Wednesday. Look at this goddamn piece of lunacy and tell me comic books aren't the greatest goddamn thing ever:

There once was a House called Atreus...

BITCH PLANET WON A BRITISH FANTASY AWARD!! Unbelievably cool. Phil Lunt was kind enough to collect it for us (Thank you, Phil!) (S'been a good year for BP.)
Here are the remarks we prepared, that Phil was kind enough to read:
“On behalf of myself, Valentine De Landro, Cris Peter, Kelly Fitzpatrick, Clayton Cowles and the rest of the Non-Compliant team, we are deeply honoured and we thank you.
Also: Neil Gaiman and JH Williams are nominated in this category, so this will never be read and if it is, what on earth could your voters have been thinking?!
We are grateful all the same.”
I'm back in LA this week. I'd love to tell you more about it, but it's past my bedtime Sunday night and I've two scripts to work on and a big day tomorrow and I'm pooped, so I'm begging off--sorry, guys.
Because I feel like I owe you something, however, here's are a couple of podcasts I've been enjoying lately. Maybe you'll dig them too:

Go throw your money at Ward here!
#ICYMI
From Paste: Margaret Atwood & Kelly Sue DeConnick in Glorious Discussion: Sci-Fi, Tattoos, Angel Catbird, Bitch Planet and So Very Much More.
And hey, Chip interviewed Ms. Atwood too!
The approach Obama's female staffers took to make their voices heard is pretty genius. (Still, would've been cool if this article had just been like "Ha, kidding, dudes didn't talk over them in the first place!")
Bitch Planet was nominated for FIVE Autostraddle awards (!!): Favorite Indie Book, BP #8 for Favorite Single Issue, Kelly Sue DeConnick for Favorite Writer, Kelly Fitzpatrick for Favorite Colorist, and Favorite Comic.
Kit met CAT MERMAIDS at RCCC. And immediately ordered one. Kit could stand to work on her self-control. (Siamese fighting fish, though, come on!)
tl;dr
Sept 28 - ODY-C #11 on sale (this one wound up in the October solicits, but we swear it's out September 28!)
Oct 8 - Kelly Sue at NYCC for a day! She's moderating the 5:30PM panel for the new-this-fall NBC show Emerald City, of which she wrote an episode (!!). And maybe doing some other stuff. Stay tuned.
Oct 26 - ODY-C #12 on sale
Nov 23 - (JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAZE): ODY-C: CYCLE ONE HC on sale (big, beautiful HC filled with never-before-seen art, concepts, issues #1-12, and the entire monster-sized gatefold from issue #1.)
