Bathtime Apocalypse

In an infinite multiverse, there are an infinite number of ways for the world to end. Some are tragic – and some are silly. On one sad earth, it was sentient bathtubs that did it; a world reduced to a charnel house by plumbing that came to life. News anchors wept as much from the indignity as from the doom. The last human was glad when it was all over.

Background

Just a small one from a few years back this week. I spent last weekend in Madrid and I’m off to Edinburgh on Saturday. On top of the trips, I’m preparing a talk on generative AI and programming. And, the following weekend, I’m heading to Brighton for the launch of I Love, the new book by my best friend Rosy Carrick. Busy times.

Rosy’s book is now on sale online. I’ve a lot to say about this, and don’t want to rush, so I’ll write about it in detail after the launch. But it’s a beautiful book and I recommend it highly.

I’ll got a draft a story to write while I’m in Edinburgh, one that’s connected with the exhibition I’m going to see,
