Micael Widell Newsletter #54

Captain's log

I've been feeling a bit less enthusiastic about photography and my youtube channel lately. I have periods like this every year, so I'm not too worried.

When this happens, I just do a bit less of photography for a while, and discover something else, and then I often soon come back to photography and my youtube channel with new passion and inspiration. I hope and I think this will happen this time as well. But if it doesn't that's fine as well.

For the past eight years, I have decided that every day I am just going to do the things I feel like doing – things that feel fun and interesting to me. Things that pull me. For most of the past six years that has been photography and my youtube channel. But if that stops being the main thing that pulls me and my interest, I will just go where I feel inspired to go instead. It is a wonderful way of living and it creates happiness for me.

But anyway, that's the reason I only published three videos in the last month:

My Published Videos since the last newsletter

  • 11 Tips for Abstract Macro Photography
  • Adaptalux Macro Photography LED Lights – Quick Review
  • Laowa Aurogon – 10x-50x Macro Lens

I have been following the developments in photorealistic AI image generation in the past year or so, ever since I made my first video about it.

Recently I have started to see a very interesting kind of images, where you mix classic image generation from text, with a restraining cookie cutter shape, to make very interesting images – images that would be very hard even for humans to create.

I have played around with this in the last day, and I will probably make a video about it soon, either on my photography channel or my side channel. Keep an eye out!

Below are a few of my favorites I have made in the last day. Can you see the hidden shapes?
