Micael Widell Newsletter #61
Captain's log
May was not an awesome experience for me. Our very long and cold winter lasted well into the month. And when winter finally turned into summer overnight, with no spring in between, I found myself and the family getting various kinds of colds and viruses for the remainder of the month. So I struggled to make videos, but still managed to get three done. I really hope June will be better.
Here are the videos I published since my last newsletter:
- Handheld Macro Photography at 7x magnification – Possible or not?
- Extreme Macro Photography: M.Zuiko 90mm + MC-20 teleconverter
- M.Zuiko 30mm 1.25x Macro Lens – Incredible Value for Money!
My favorite photo from the month
The best photo I took during May, in my own opinion, was this ant photo that I took with the Olympus 30mm lens. I like how the light fell, and the contrast between the orange of the ants and the lush, green background.
Getting an office space
To celebrate that I have passed 100 000 subscribers on Youtube, but also because I can finally afford it, I have decided to get my own dedicated studio/office space for youtube.
I am so excited about this, because so far I have been sharing a very small office room in our apartment with my wife. And while it has mostly been sufficient, it has not been optimal.
Every time I want to reach something in my closet or in my camera cabinet, I have to move lighting equipment and tripods etc. out of the way. I often cannot record videos because my wife is working there, or my kids are running around screaming just outside the door.
I want to have my own holy space, away from the apartment, and big enough to fit everything. A space where I can always go to find the peace and quiet necessary to get good work done. A place where I can have a permanent studio setup with camera, light, microphone and background that just stands there ready for me to record a video.
I have found a cheap but perfect 15 square meter office room that will be available in late August, so I am now eagerly awaiting that.
