Liner Notes no. 7: Updates and appearances
To Ty and Lauren, as you can see, I have squeezed the Lit Hub thing into the newsletter.
Hello to everyone, and my apologies for a three-month silence! There's been a lot of news piling up, so I think the first order of business is to get that done. Bitter Medicine releases in ten days. Deep breath. Ten days.
I'm doing an in-person launch at Charis Books and More, my local feminist bookstore, but they'll also be simulcasting it virtually! So if you're interested in being at the launch but can't make it in person, you can RSVP to the virtual launch by clicking this link: https://www.crowdcast.io/e/bitter-medicine-mia-tsai/register.
If you can make it, I'd love to see you there!
I'm also going on book tour, so if you live in Savannah, Charleston, or Augusta, I'll be there... plus San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Here's the full list of tour stops we've got going:

In other news, Bitter Medicine has been getting really, really nice trade reviews and features on reading recommendation lists, like the LitHub one in the header (https://bookmarks.reviews/marchs-best-sci-fi-and-fantasy-books-2023/) and mentions in The Word for Diversity (https://bookshop.org/lists/march-2023-reading-recommendations), and Smart Bitches, Trashy Books (https://smartbitchestrashybooks.com/2023/03/march-2023-new-releases-part-one/). I'll do my best to update more as I go - this letter is long enough as it is already - and hopefully, I won't neglect things for another three months. I've been writing blogposts for other outlets as well, and I think I'll link to them on my website for ease.
Honestly, ever since Twitter exploded, it's been hard to pick one social media site and stick with it. There's so much FOMO about missing readers and such, and you have to suss out what each media site is like. As of right now, I'm most active on Twitter and Instagram. I do technically have a tumblr, though it's more like tumbleweeds at this point, and this newsletter, and also the blog. Which I might can in favor of the newsletter, who knows. At any rate, to close this out, here's what I've been listening to...
- Every Hozier song in existence to prepare for the March 17th release of his EP, Eat Your Young
- Natalie Prass, for some reason; I was not expecting her albums to be as experimental as they were given how "Short Court Style" sounded
- Janelle Monae's new single, "Float"
- Old Man Saxon's oeuvre
- And a lot of Who, When, Wow!, the history podcast from the folks at Wow in the World. Yes, this is my kid's doing.
