What’s ANTi zine??

“ANTi zine (est. 2024) is a quarterly anthology zine focused on invoking an ANTi-capitalist praxis within our communities. we (the publisher, mia, and the contributors) encourage you to practice self-sustaining choices and reject consumerism and materialism, no matter where you are or what you have… we can’t do it all! but we can all do something. we also like to think that we are building an encyclopedia for all things anti-capitalist, and therefore, anti-racist, anti-classist, and anti-sexist.”

What can I submit?

you can submit anything that can be printed! included but not limited to: photos, comics, collage, illustration, writing (fiction and non-fiction), scans of found objects, etc.! but also, if there is a video or other digital media that you made that cannot be printed - i can put the link to the video in the zine w/screenshots. i am open to that! maybe even a QR code??

and please note that in order to keep things fair, i am setting a maximum of 5 contributors per issue (including myself). so if your submission isn’t accepted, just know

What format(s) do I need to use when submitting?

please ensure that the images you submit are high-quality images with a DPI of 300, whenever possible. we accept the following formats: .pdf (BEST), .jpg, .png, or plain text in the e-mail body.

How will my submissions be used in the zine?

i incorporate both traditional and digital collaging in ANTi zine. i scan some elements- like collages, drawings, and stickers- onto my laptop and then format the zine digitally.

by submitting, you consent to your images being used in a potentially transformative way. your image could bleed over an entire page or spread, or it may be printed, cut, and pasted onto a page with other elements. if you have specific instructions for presenting your work in the zine, you must let me know in the original submission e-mail thread! if you would like to format your own spread, feel free, but please keep this in mind: i am now printing ANTi in a new format, as of february 2025/issue #5. i print the spreads onto 11”x17” paper, stack them, fold them hamburger style, and then i fold that in half again. it ends up resembling a small newspaper. in other words, it will not be printed the same way that year 1 was printed (on 8.5”x11” paper, folded and stapled). it is likely that your submission will be on the same page as other submissions, considering the “newspaper” style format.

once you submit and acceptance e-mails are sent, you will be credited online and in the zine itself on the release date. again, if you would like to remain anonymous, please let me know in the submission e-mail!

How is the zine distributed?

i currently charge $6 per issue at markets/zine fests and $6 (actually $5.50) quarterly for snail-mail subscribers. i sometimes put them into free little libraries. i didn’t always sell the zine but, i do now to account for time spent printing, collating, and stapling; and for shipping/stamps and ink/paper, it's getting more expensive. it is also how i will now be able to pay contributors, as of 2/2025.

How do you decide what I get paid?

you will not be paid up front for your work, but there will be a kickback at the end of the quarter (with receipts whenever possible).

your work is featured in the february issue, which is released on february 15. i add up all revenue (from sales, subscriptions, and advertisements for that issue) beginning on february 15 and ending on may 15 (or approximately ~90 days after the release date). so, tell your friends and family an encourage them to buy the issue!!

i will set aside funds for paper and ink/printing services for ANTi, then i will split the profit equally between you, myself, and the 3 other contributors for that issue.

for may, i follow the same process, except the dates will range from may 15 (or the date which it is released) to august 15 (or approximately ~90 days after the release date).
