Hey there!
Here's your newsletter from me, Matt Glaman!
DrupalCon!
I’m flying out to Portland today for DrupalCon! If you’re there and see me, feel free to say “Hi!” In my spare time I plan on hanging around the Acquia booth.
Monday morning I’ll be giving my talk Save time upgrading from Drupal 7 to Drupal 10 using Retrofit at 9am in room A106.
I’ll also be at the “These go to 11! Get help porting projects to Drupal 11” BoF in room G131 at 2:30pm to answer questions for porting modules and custom code to Drupal 11.
Talking Drupal guest host episodes
Throughout April I had the honor of being the guest host on Talking Drupal. I had a blast and hope to rejoin the podcast in the future!
My latest blog post
After our episode with Alexey, I was motivated to write a blog post about how test-driven development (or at least test-focused) can save time and money on projects.
Writing tests first saves time and money later on
The TalkingDrupal podcast had Alexey Korepov on to talk about Test Driven Development. Alexey has written the Test Helpers module, a development package that provides many useful utility tools for writing unit tests for your Drupal code.

Once I heard IBM was buying HashiCorp, I was waiting for Jeff’s write up.
Kevin Kelly posted 101 additional advices. Some of them will make you go “duh, of course” and then make you realize you’re failing at them.
The Alternative Implementation Problem
This blog post talks about the pitfalls for building alternative implementations that run alongside software versus inside of it as the canonical implementation. While this talks about JIT for Ruby, it ran parallel to some of the concerns/problems we have in Drupal with the “incubate in contrib space” where efforts may splinter without direct focus. Which, we have been getting better at.
