Last Friday evening, I stumbled on an unexpectedly profound podcast, which upended my publication plans for this week. The point of view of the interviewee, the author of a new book not yet available in English, conveys the Israeli view on history, on the nature of geopolitics, and on the purpose of Zionism more faithfully and compellingly than I believe I have ever heard it conveyed before. In doing so, he expresses hard truths about American foreign policy that will make for painful listening for Americans.

Be warned: the podcast is quite long and requires listening to the end, before the totality of the argument becomes fully clear. This old guy thinks that, if you stick it out, you may not agree with what you have heard but you will feel rewarded by having made the effort.
