word of mouth

According to the caption, this is apparently a paint-by-numbers painting of a 1950s woman using a yellow wall-mounted phone with a rotary dial. In her lap is her metal address book. These opened like a giant flip phone to reveal the alphabetized cards inside, where you'd write all your phone numbers, but the cool thing was that there was a slider on the side that you could move to the letter of the alphabet you were looking for so that when you opened it that's the card you were looking at. I'm not doing a very good job of explaining it but given that it's technology that nobody will ever see again that's not much of a tragedy. You know what IS a tragedy? No more banana-yellow wall phones.

Hey folks,

I don’t really understand marketing (Yes, John, we noticed) but even I know that what works better than anything else is word of mouth. You telling your friend you really liked Improv for Introverts is about a million times more effective than me telling them I think they might like it, for obvious reasons.

So if you’ve ever taken a class from me and liked it, this is my semi-regular plea for you to mention it to your friends. You don’t have to give them the hard sell! But just telling them it didn’t suck can chip away at their (understandable) skepticism about it. And if you’re already doing this, thank you. It really makes a difference.

Also! If you’ve taken a class already you’re eligible to join us for the Mercury Monthly workshop the third Tuesday of every month! These have been really fun, with a regular core of people who keep coming back plus some new faces each time. It’s a great way to get yourself a shot of improv and hang with some cool folks. (This month we went to Lala’s afterward and had ourselves a large time.) Join us!

That’s all for now.

Later taters,
John
