Mend and Bend Newsletter - August 2026

Hello, friend! Thanks for taking a quick gander at my newsletter!
Mending News
Darning class! My next darning workshop will be Saturday, August 22nd, 10:30am-12:30pm at The Craft Box. I’m stoked to offer this workshop, and darning is so accessible - no sewing experience required. Summer’s a great time to work on small projects like worn winter socks. Call The Craft Box to register: 303-279-1069.

Mending Club! Leah and I host the group at The Craft Box in Wheat Ridge. Come to our next meeting: Thursday, August 20th. We gather at 6:00pm and stay until 8:30pm, so drop in when you can. Bring a clothing item that needs mending or a patch you've been meaning to sew, and craft alongside other friendly folks! We ask for a $5 entry fee to help pay for rental costs, advertising, and supplies. BYO supplies, but we’ll have some mending basics available to use. With this dedicated space, I bring my sewing machine to share!

Mending-adjacent: I’ve started teaching the Crochet 101 class at ReCreative. They are holding off on classes as renovation finishes up, so the next class is TBD, probably in late September. Students learn the basics of crochet: holding the yarn and hook, making a chain, and single and double crochet.

I teach 3 regular classes a week. Check out my schedule below. I have over 11 years of experience working with my own scoliosis in yoga asanas (poses), and I can help you understand the curves of your back and adjust with props as necessary to find space, gain length, get stronger, and de-rotate those twisted spinal muscles.

For Evolition Classes, register through Tiffany’s website.
For Living Yoga Classes, register through Living Yoga's website.
For Samamkaya Yoga Classes, register through Samamkaya Yoga's website. I currently don’t have a weekly class but I substitute teach occasionally.
You can always see my upcoming classes here. In addition to my public group classes, I offer private yoga sessions where we can work together one-on-one. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact me.
Life Adventures in the Community
Denver Tool Library: Y’all! Why did it take me so long to get involved with DTL?? Last week was their Mending Circle where I got to help someone learn the basics of a sewing machine to patch and embellish their jacket. DTL hosts other events in addition to a plethora of classes! First Friday is coming up on September 4th, and I’m getting excited about the drop-in craft they’re offering… Stop by at the First Friday Art Walk on Santa Fe!

Grow Local Colorado: This growing season has had its ups and downs with the late frost and the high heat, the drought, the smoke… But this community doesn’t quit. They just launched their newsletter (which I’m helping with this season!), and the next one comes out Tuesday. We have volunteer opportunities galore, though mostly in gardens rather than gleaning fruit trees. Come spend an hour in a garden.

Cat update: it’s BIRBS! These two love their cat TV [read: birds sipping water from the sides of the swamp cooler].

Thanks for sticking around, and I hope you take good care.
