It’s officially been autumn for almost a month, but the fall colors seem to be MIA. Was it due to this summer’s drought, or something else? There were some cooler days when I broke out a beautiful new sweater from a friend, but it warmed up again. Climate change is a good reminder to not take our favorite seasonal rituals for granted. -Eira

# MARAC Symposium on Sustainability & Archives
I’m excited to be joining the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference in a couple of weeks for their fall symposium.

Join MARAC to explore the impact of climate change on archives or, conversely, the environmental impacts of our own work on our communities. How is climate change influencing and altering our staffing, institutions, collections, and work overall?
I will be facilitating the day, starting with a keynote followed by an interactive workshop customized for MARAC. Lunch will be provided with extra time to explore Hagley collection highlights. The afternoon will include a panel of members addressing various aspects of sustainability, a poster session, and an optional tour of the Winterthur House. There will also be ample time to meet with vendors and connect with fellow archivists.

# Library Juice Academy: Climate Change Impacts on Libraries and Archives
I am teaching [Climate Change Impacts on Libraries and Archives](https://libraryjuiceacademy.com/shop/course/328-climate-change-impacts-on-libraries-and-archives/) for Library Juice Academy from November 3-November 30. This is a four-week asynchronous course for library and archives professionals interested in learning more about climate change and their work.
During this course, participants will learn about the basic science of climate change, study its public policy implications and climate trends in their local region and institutions, and develop practical strategies for beginning to address climate change within the scope of their work. # Upcoming Grant Deadlines
Several grant programs that I track for this newsletter have been defunded. This will have grave effects on archives and humanities programs across the country. My heart goes out to all of the federal employees who have been put on leave or terminated from federal funding agencies. Your work is so important, and know that our profession stands in solidarity with you.

The SAA Foundation's[ National Disaster Recovery Fund for Archives (NDRFA)](https://www2.archivists.org/groups/saa-foundation-board-of-directors/national-disaster-recovery-fund-for-archives) provides critical assistance to communities experiencing climate disasters. Applications received on a rolling basis. Grants are typically awarded within 7-10 business days of applying.
