Angeline Era NOW OUT on Steam!! (+ Final Devlog)

Get ready to bumpslash...

Guess what??? Angeline Era’s now out on Steam for Windows and Mac!! Get it here! It is 20% off, or $19.99, for two weeks, then will return to its normal price of $24.99.

And enjoy the launch trailer:

Here’s how you can support the game further!

  • Leave a Steam review after playing for a bit! Purchases and reviews encourage Steam’s algorithm to show the game to more potential players.

  • If you’re financially able, on Steam we have a bundle available that features the two OST volumes and our Artbook. These are also available on Itch/GOG.

    • The OSTs are available on my Bandcamp, too, and I receive a bit more money there. The music is also on streaming services. But watch out! The song titles have spoilers in them.

  • Repost either my or the Angeline Era account’s announcement posts on X or Bluesky

  • Let your favorite streamer know about the launch!

  • Tell a friend or post the trailer in a discord server or group chat!

Quick Facts

  • We managed to launch in English, Japanese and Brazilian-Portuguese and should have Simplified Chinese within a few weeks.

  • We’ve also launched on itch.io and GOG

  • We don’t have concrete plans for consoles yet, but I’d like do them at some point.

  • The average playtime is about 20-30 hours, but I’ve seen testers complete their first playthrough in as quickly as 16/17, or longer than 30. This is because the game is fairly open ended and has multiple difficulty options, and playtime is heavily influenced by what you decide to prioritize and how often you die.

  • The game is very replayable - low-level runs or high-difficulty runs feel pretty different from the base game. There’s also an interesting score-based Boss Rush mode in the postgame!

  • The Artbook has a lot of behind-the-scenes and development info! However I still plan to write up the Book of Bumpslash here at some point.

Thanks for all your support! I’m looking forward to taking a bit of a rest, and seeing everyone play the game. Hope you enjoy Bumpslashing and exploring Angeline Era!!

Melos

(P.S… the final devlog…)

It’s been about a month and a half since the last devlog. What did we do? Well, we finished the game! It’s a period of intense work featuring a lot of miscellaneous tasks. The biggest thing was that Marina finished the level art pass and various other art tasks. This was pretty involved and intense on her part, so thank you Marina for finishing all that!! The game looks amazing.

On my end, I was running playtesting, fixing many bugs/invisible wall issues, and tuning things like the economy, searchable secrets, etc. I also would check over each level’s new art and occasionally fix a few things here and there.

I also had to put together the OST (fixing volume levels, looping some tracks) and Artbook (organizing a lot of old game levels and art), and organize the release and PR stuff, make the launch trailer, do some influencer outreach, revise the store pages and screenshots. I also decided to learn Reddit Ads a bit, which have worked pretty well!

And when not working my personal life has had a lot going on during the last stretch. Family, friends, exploring… even a vacation! I’m very grateful for these things because they’re chances to not be at my computer as much, haha. I’m looking forward to working less in the coming months.

In terms of other game design, in early November after Marina playtested the game we made some subtle improvements to the overworld experience to encourage exploration (a splash screen appears when entering an overworld zone for the first time, helping frame what that zone is very very loosely about.)

And now you can play!! Phew!!!
