Vayechi
Today is the 17th of Tevet and this week’s portion is Vayechi. It is also January 1st 2021! Happy (secular) new year! I gotta say when I was davening this morning’s amidah and got to this part of the blessing for the year it hit extra hard. Screenshots from Siddur Masorti.
Please, let’s finish up this plague.
More davening content: the All Genders Wrap videos are from 2018, but I am planning to start wearing tefillin soon so I was giving them another look recently.
In other trans jewish news, check out this quick blogpost about Pirkei Avot 1:1, toying with translation and knowledge transmission and obligation in an interesting way. I like being part of the communal in-gathering.
I’m having trouble correctly embedding from instagram, so you may have to take my word for it that KeynAyinHara’s art there is wonderful.
I browsed another academic press’s book sale. With code AD1909 you can get, in addition to a bunch of other things mostly not about Judaism,
Boyarin’s Socrates and the Fat Rabbis for $15
The Correspondence of Hannah Arendt and Gershom Scholem for $13
A book about the synagogue designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for $17
The Jewish Pet of the Week this week is Riley!
That’s all for this week! Shabbat shalom, friends. <3
