social (email) update - may 2025
Welcome back (or, for many of you, just “welcome”) to the monthly-or-less newsletter for social (media) attendees and practitioners.
Thanks to everyone who came down to the social (media) mixer last week…
.. it was quite the time. I absolutely love seeing people meeting new people, renewing old friendships, and generally jumping right in. Last Thursday was a big bucket of exactly those things. Thanks to base for their incredible support of this event and of some of the regular meetups too. And huge thanks to the speakers: Alisdair Jones, Max Pepe, Katie Kohn, Chris Crichlow and Alex Kempner. If you have any photos of the evening I’d love to see them - I just managed a handful of the speakers.
We’ll probably do it again one more time this year, maybe in September or October. More on that once we have it locked in :)
Upcoming Meetups
The next 20-person meetups are coming up!
We have a few spots left next Wednesday 21st May, over in Spitalfields this time. HMU if you’d like to come along!
We’ve then got dates on Tue 24th June and Tue 29th July, before taking a break in August.
Speakers, subjects, sponsors, and other feedback
I very sincerely think of these events as an opportunity to allow good people the space to make connections, have new ideas, and help make things happen. I’m super keen to hear from you about the events: what you’ve loved, what you think we could do better, what you’d like to bring to the table yourself, etc. There are a little over 200 of you now who’ve been along to an event in the last 15 months. You hail from broadcasters, AI agencies, production houses, newspapers, PR companies, media platforms, newsrooms, events organisers and beyond. Who better to ask what you’d like to see more and less of?
I’m especially keen to hear from you if:
you have a 5-minute talk you’d like to investigate and bring to the room
you have someone you think would be perfect for the events
you’d like to foot the bar tab for one of the meetups (discount rates available for next week!). Our various lovely sponsors have covered 12 of the 16 events I’ve run so far, I’d love to make it a 100% hit rate :)
And that’s it for this month! This email has been brought to you from a sunny table in Kensington whilst on a break from browsing what’s new and interesting in production at MPTS in Olympia. The answer, as always, is LOTS.
Until next time!
Kev x
