Trending Tuesday: What's filling Nordic feeds right now & why
Dear recipient
Welcome to another week of Trending Tuesday. Your weekly curated overview of what’s trending right now on Nordic social media 🔥.
Made using our Insights Assistant on TRNDSET.
🌸 Lifestyle: Midsummer has become an aesthetic event.
Across Nordic social media, Midsommar content is no longer just about documenting the celebration itself — it's increasingly about the beautiful lead-up to it.
Creators shared DIY flower crowns, table styling ideas and “help me choose my Midsummer dress” content, turning the holiday into a highly participatory and community-driven event.
🍓 Food also plays a major role. Strawberries, new potatoes and traditional Midsummer dishes were being presented through beautifully curated “tablescapes” that blended nostalgia with modern Scandinavian aesthetics.
🎬 We're also saw a few creators play with the global fascination surrounding the 2019 film Midsommar, contrasting its eerie reputation with the reality of flower crowns, long summer evenings and festive traditions.
✈️ Travel: The rise of the Hidden Gem.
We want to have life of locals, at least the illusion of it, for the good and bad. Travel creators are moving away from crowded tourist hotspots and toward quieter, more curated experiences.
Across social media, creators are increasingly sharing secret beaches, tucked-away cafés and lesser-known destinations that feel more personal and authentic than the classic tourist checklist.
🌿 What's driving the trend is a growing desire for peace, nature and escapism. Rather than asking, “Where should I go?”, audiences are increasingly asking, “Where can I go that doesn't feel discovered yet?”
The content is also highly practical. By framing destinations as “must-save” spots or next year's hidden gems, creators are turning travel inspiration into something immediately useful and highly shareable.
In many ways, travel content is becoming less about seeing the places everyone else has already visited and more about finding places that feel like your own little secret. While documenting it, which could be argued is making the spots a little less secret.
🥒 Food: Pickles and budget items are turning luxury
One of the more unexpected food trends right now is the rise of the “Pickle Obsession” — where creators are turning everything from pickle-wrapped snacks to unusual flavor combinations into highly shareable content. Its a savory, budget, canned trend. Items such as sardines, pickles which were considered stables, low cost and easy access is being reinvented and turning luxury.
What makes the trend particularly interesting is its community-driven nature. Rather than one-off recipe videos, creators and brands are building multi-part series, inviting followers to suggest the next pickle experiment and turning the trend into an ongoing conversation. In the reinventions of stables, we are seeing some strong indications that butter is next in line to be picked up for glamorization.
✨ The appeal is a mix of curiosity and controversy. Pickles are one of those ingredients people tend to either love or hate — and that polarization is driving comments, shares and engagement.
Another key driver is sensory content. The crunch, the close-up textures and the “sound-on” experience make pickle content particularly well-suited for short-form video.
👗 Fashion: Summer is becoming a mood before it's a season.
Across social media, creators are embracing the “Summer Loading” trend — using outfit transitions, lookbooks and curated style archives to build anticipation for the months.
Rather than posting a single outfit, creators are increasingly sharing collections of looks, “June favourites” and summer mood boards that act as inspiration guides for the entire season.
☀️ At the center of the trend is a sense of anticipation. Fashion content is becoming less about what people are wearing today and more about the version of themselves they're getting ready to become this summer.
We're also seeing a preference for light, tactile materials and effortless silhouettes, with textured fabrics and flowy pieces appearing across many of the top-performing posts.
🎲 Lifestyle: Fun is community and games
One of the more unexpected trends right now is the return of challenge- and game content. Across social media, creators are reviving playful formats like Snack Challenges, Stone Paper Scissors variations and other low-production games that invite participation rather than passive viewing.
As we have covered this before, nostalgia also plays a role. Many creators are intentionally bringing back trends from a few years ago to see if they still hold up — often with a self-aware and humorous twist.
Another pattern is physicality. Whether it's movement-based games, reaction challenges or iconic poses, audiences seem to be craving content that feels energetic, social and easy to recreate themselves.
The resurgence of challenge content suggests that people are looking for simple ways to connect and have fun online again. The best-performing content isn't necessarily the most polished — it's the content that makes you want to text a friend and say, “We have to try this.”
Hope you enjoyed the read.
