What will it mean for your business?
Google’s stoush with the Australian government is intensifying due to increasing demands from news publishers that they pay for their organic search results. Google says it’s too hard to simply remove news content even though they’ve trialled it. If they were to pull search from Australia where does that leave us? Well it’s no understatement to say it would be devastating for the economy, something they know and will leverage. It would leave some services, but they are such a monopoly that news searches generate a lot of revenue for Google and ultimately there would be many losers in the fight. |
