Here are a series of steps towards a little gouache painting I recently completed. The original image was taken in Fish Creek and I chose to paint it because I was enamoured with the hue of the ice.

In truth, I’m not 100% satisfied with the way it turned out, but I had fun doing it and learned a little more about painting with gouache.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to share this painting, but art is a process and art takes work. Art is messy and there are no guarantees of a masterpiece. The important thing is just to keep trying, and continue to be driven by instinct and passion.
