I spent most of last week alone, which was a relief and a gift after two back-to-back weeks with a lot of socializing. I got many of the things done on my to-do list. I ate a whole rotisserie chicken. I have always been good with talking to people, but I do need to be alone and quiet most of the time to remain Not a Bitch, so this was a relief. I consumed a lot of things during my alone time, and I do not yet feel the terrible creep of darkness that sometimes comes in the fall. #blessed.
Also: Please read my damn blog about the Phoebe Bridgers concert! I tried to make the sentences nice!
Congratulations to Anne Carson on the NOBEL PRIZE FOR LITERATURE. I love when big prizes go to writers who do weird stuff and sometimes it works and feels like a miracle. I love that she’s like poetry’s Lydia Tar

Here’s a poem of hers I learned about this week called “God’s List of Liquids.”

I wrote about this briefly in the Defector culture newsletter, but I really loved Zoe Kazan’s adaptation of East of Eden for Netflix. It whips!
REQUEST: If anyone knows where to get fun vintage (or vintage-looking) clips like the ones on top of clipboards, can you let me know? I’m looking to buy some to hang menus up on my wall in my kitchen!
These little frames for fortunes are so cute

Really makes you think about the Power of Catholicism that the White Sox lost 100 games for three seasons in a row and now that the pope is a White Sox fan they did kind of okay in the playoffs.
I loved reading about how Tabasco became the biggest hot sauce in the world, and particularly loved the opening scene in the field full of peppers.
When I say “eat the rich,” I do think we should start with this fucking guy.
Signs can’t stop these beavers because they can’t read!! Or maybe they can read and that’s why they’re fucking up the signs! Much to consider.
I have been in a bit of a reading rut so I treated myself to a romance that my friend Sarah-Grace recommended. I read August Lane by Regina Black in a single sitting, which feels like such a treat and a luxury.
I cannot buy any more fish shaped objects for my house lest it become an aquarium, but I would LOVE to buy this.

I liked this blog about being a bad texter but I gotta hit this with a truth: 30 unread texts is rookie numbers. That is nothing to those of us whom are truly bad.
God how I long to be a fancy NYC preschooler at the school with the dripped out teachers
I really like This Is Lorelei album The Singer in my Band, which I somehow missed last year. It’s the perfect album to listen to with the windwos down while you drive 100 mph on a sunny day.
Also sue me, but I also really love the new Cameron Winter Live album.
Last week I wrote about how much fun I had seeing Phoebe Bridgers (I wept), I made GBBO cookies, and I wrote about East of Eden for the Defector Culture newsletter.
