It was a huge week for me: I finished a draft of my new book, and sent it to my first readers. No one is done with it yet, so I still remain in bliss (believing it is perfect. Then I went to a very fun wedding! Wow!
Bad news for all of you who don’t like to buy things: I am working on a newsletter for the week of Thanksgiving of the best things I bought this year, and I thought it would be fun to do one the week after of reader recs! I really respect an article that pushes me right up to the edge of my ability to understand what it’s talking about, and this story about MATH and the FUTURE OF MATH did just that.

I love the old road
There is no greater serendipity as a reader than reading something old, and then being blessed by a smart writer’s take on it. I read Love and Death in the American Novel by Leslie Fiedler this summer and loved reading this Baffler article on it by Zoë Hu.
I really believe that all objects should be beautiful, which is why I WILL be purchasing this adorable little step stool soon.

This weekend, I attended a very good wedding and they served both Shirley Temples and Dirty Shirleys. These whipped!! I respect the Shirley Temple drink now.
