1 Second Everyday 2020
Usually by this time, I’ve long-completed my 1SE video for the previous year. For those not familiar, 1SE stands for 1 Second Everyday, a mobile app which helps you compile a video diary collected from short snippets. A few seconds here, a couple there, and over time it adds up. A deeper dive about the app and my usage is available on my blog.
However, after a year where everyday felt the same — where time lost meaning, where friends lost loved ones, and obstruction of reality permeated our national discourse — it was difficult for me to gin up any enthusiasm for compiling 2020’s 1SE edition. But I rallied, and here it is:
I’ve struggled mightily with hope this past year. The deposition of President Trump was a balm for my soul, and even though there are now adults in the room, it’s still taking time for my damage to heal. Seeing my children be silly on video, images reminding me that I was indeed fortunate to be healthy & surrounded by loved ones…I am thankful.
Here’s hoping that your 2020 wasn’t as bad as you thought, and that (like mine) your 2021 is looking brighter each passing day.
As ever,
Matthew
