The horrid glory of personal responsibility
So this screencap is going around the internets and I have no idea who the person is who posted it but it made me laugh like a drain. Just because this is so fucking true, and so hard to internalize.
It's so weird and hard, walking that line between reactivity and responsibility.
For example, that's the real purpose of content warnings, right? To allow people to decide how much trauma they want to deal with on any given day. And the problem is that there can never be enough content warnings to help people through all the idiosyncrasies of trauma. You might be reading a pile of cozy mysteries to distract yourself from a pet death or a divorce and discover that one of these seemingly harmless comforting books is replete with animals in peril or with infidelity!
