Surprise! It's book day all over again!
I’m thrilled to share some news that it has been killing me to sit on, which is that there is now a second mystery novella featuring Sub-Inspector Ferron of the Bangalore City Police.
It’s called A Blessing of Unicorns and it’s available right now as an Audible Original! We have hopes that next year we’ll be able to manage a magazine publication of the text version, with ebook release to follow!
A new science fiction mystery featuring Sub-Inspector Ferron, from two-time Hugo Award winner Elizabeth Bear.
A woman has vanished. She reported her disappearance in advance.
In the Bangalore, India, of the 2070s, a young woman who is internet-famous enters an empty police station and tells the virtual assistant that her life is in danger. When she disappears out of her own apartment, it’s up to Police Sub-Inspector Ferron and her partner to determine whether a crime has even been committed. In a world of enhanced tech and extreme interconnectedness, can someone truly disappear?
To find the answers, Ferron will need to enter a braver, newer world of virtual reality – and deal with the small matter of a herd of tiny, vicious unicorns.

There’s also now an audio version of In the House of Aryaman, a Lonely Signal Burns, featuring the same brilliant narrator, Zehra Jane Naqvi.
Thanks to Fran Wilde for the inspiration for the tiny unicorns, and to my dear friend Asha Srinivasan Shipman as always for being my Bangalore geography and culture consultant.
I hope you enjoy!
