Meanwhile, over at the Discord, a book club for writers...
Hey, folks,
As some (most?) of you probably know, one of the benefits for paid subscribers of this newsletter is access it a private Discord server, which is pleasant, professionally moderated, and not ridiculously high volume.
(If you're subscribing and haven't gotten the invite, please send an email to elizabethbearpa@gmail.com and we’ll get you sorted out. If you’re not subscribing, well, here you go:

Well, I've been thinking it would be fun to do a little writing discussion over there, starting with a book club on George Saunders' A SWIM IN THE POND IN THE RAIN, in which he analyzes a bunch of Russian short stories from a craft standpoint. So if you happen to want to get in on that, please do become a paid subscriber.
I figure we'll start with the first chapter the week beginning April 17th. I know that's Easter, which will no doubt involve commitments for some people, but one of the joys of asynchronous communication is you can pop in any time all week. And that should give everybody a chance to get ahold of a copy and read the first story analysis and related content.
I hope this seems like fun for folks!
Best,
Bear
