Marley was dead to begin with.
My copy of the new edition of John M. Ford's brilliant THE SCHOLARS OF NIGHT with an intro by Charlie Stross just arrived from Book Moon Books, and it has a fountain pen on the cover.
I have so many feelings about this book, and about Mike, who I only slightly knew--but we had close friends in common, and I know how precious he was to them.
After Mike passed away, I was asked to clean and tune several of his fountain pens so they could be given to writer friends of his, and I still consider that one of my great privileges in this life.
One pen went to Sarah Monette/Katherine Addison and another went to Neil Gaiman, so I know they're both still hard at work making amazing art.
We miss you, Mike.
