I know it's weird, but self-punishment doesn't actually lead to growth.
So it turns out that coffee and tea probably don’t dehydrate you; that in reasonable quantities they’re not bad for you unless you’re sensitive to caffeine; and it’s fine to drink a couple of cups of coffee or a glass of ice tea without feeling like you’re in some manner misbehaving.
It also turns out that we don’t necessarily do better work when we mortify and abnegate ourselves; that having a comfortable place to sleep, enough food to eat, and a workspace that isn’t ergonomically crippling doesn’t actually make us worse artists; and that you don’t have to suffer to be worthy.
Also that fallow time is necessary to creativity.
So it occurs to me that today might be a good day, weather and health permitting, to get away from this computer and go for a walk.
See you outdoors!
Best,
Bear
