Horse Stories 3

Hey folks,

So yesterday, I rode Ormr, which was actually the first time I've ridden him since LAST Thursday, though I was over at the barn Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Last Thursday's lesson, you heard about. Saturday was Ormr's 14th birthday, so basically I just showed up, spoiled him with apples, and took him for a hike in the woods like a 700-pound dog, which is one of his favorite things. Sunday was Horse Washing Day, in which an entire winter's worth of grease and dried mud needed to be scrubbed out of two shaggy ponies, and then one of them (Magni) needed to be clipped so he doesn't die of the heat. (Ormr sheds out to a nice short summer coat, so he'll be fine with a little more furminating.)

Monday, because of a miscommunication, we thought the vet was coming, so we showed up ready to hold our horses for Spring immunizations... but it turns out the vet date is actually NEXT Monday, so I guess I will be getting up early again. Since there was no vet, we groomed horses and fed them apples.
