Book Club Post, November 2021
It’s come around again on the guitar, as Arlo Guthrie says: we’ve weathered the onset of the holidays, we’re battening down for the next Covid surge (sigh), and we might even have managed to read a few books or something.
So what books have I managed to read?
Well, I’m still not finished with The Viking Way, though I’m reading maybe ten pages a night. It’s long and very detailed and I’ve definitely gotten to the point where it’s nitpicky details of grave goods and Neil Price’s academic inside-baseball arguments with ethnographic scholars of the 1930s and that’s why I am reading it before bedtime, not to put too fine a point to it.
Things I have managed to read though include The Origin of Storms (again), as the page proofs landed and were returned. That’s the last time I am obligated to read this book before you, the reader, get your paws on it. Because I am subtle, here’s that pre-order link again.
