This weekend is the SoMi Art Fair (formerly the Uptown Art Fair). This beloved summer tradition has been reimagined and reinvented at a new location! It’s fresh new home is at Bachman’s on Lyndale in South Minneapolis.

It’s shaping up to be an incredible weekend of all my favorite things: art, music, food, community, and gardens — and the weather forecast looks perfect!

No need to search for a parking spot. Simply park at The Hub Parking Lot (W 66th St & Nicollet Ave S) or Woodlake Centre Parking Garage (W 66th St & Nicollet Ave S), and a complimentary shuttle will take you right to the event!

Thoughts and Musings

It’s been an incredibly busy spring/summer for me. I’ve traveled and tried all sorts of art fairs with both textile art and soft pastels. I’ve learned what I like, what I don’t like, and what I never want to do again. The art fair life is so many things, but easy is not one of them.

After this weekend, I’ll have a long break before my next art fair. Will I even remember how to get back into a regular schedule? We’ll see about that, but one thing is for sure: I can’t wait to get back to my easel! I have new ideas for a series of paintings and I’m itching to put pastel to paper.

As for textile art, I think I may need a longer rest away from my sewing machine. However, many of you have asked me if I’d ever teach my textile art techniques, well guess what — I am working on some sewing class ideas! Stay tuned!
