Work in Progress |
---|
I started a large-scale textile artwork at the beginning of the month. I’ve put in so many hours on this one - and I’m happy to report that I will finish in time to have the piece displayed in my booth this weekend! (Sadly, the frames I ordered haven’t arrived in time, so this one won’t be framed at the show. Ah well!) |
This artwork is a triptych of three 36"x36" panels. Entitled Nestled, it features a design of two intertwined diamonds nestled together, and is made with 10 different fabrics. |
I’m currently reading The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin. One line that caught my attention was: “Flaws are human and the attraction of art is the humanity held in it. If we were machinelike, the art wouldn’t resonate. It would be soulless.” (Hmm… Maybe this is why AI-generated “art” bothers me so much? It contains no soul.) Thanks for being a part of my flawed journey! Here’s to being our best human selves. Cheers! Mary |
