june 2022 reading wrap-up

FINALLY, I am doing my June wrap-up! And mainly because I tested positive earlier this week, and am now under quarantine, and my brain still gets dizzy when I read/write too much, so this is kind of an easy way out.

This is going to be a short one!

BOOKS READ IN JUNE 2022

Picture Books

  • The Boy Who Loved Maps by Kari Allen
  • Ways to Make Friends by Jairo Buitrago & Mariana Ruiz Johnson
  • Fiona the Fruit Bat by Dan Riskin & Rachel Qiuqi
  • My Uncle Is Coming Tomorrow by Sebastian Santana

Comics

  • I Want To Be A Wall Vol. 1 by Konami Shirono
  • Hawkeye: Kate Bishop by Marieke Nijkamp & Enid Balam
  • Frankie’s World by Aoife Dooley
  • Black Widow Vol. 1: The Ties That Bind by Kelly Thompson & Elena Casagrande
  • Hello, Melancholic! Vol. 1 by Yayoi Ohsawa
  • Original Sin: Thor & Loki by Jason Aaron, et al.
  • The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen
  • Thor Vol. 1: Goddess of Thunder by Jason Aaron & Russell Dauterman
  • Sasaki and Miyano Vol. 1 by Shou Harusono

Fiction

  • Peta Lyre’s Rating Normal by Anna Whateley
  • The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan
  • Dangerous Interloper by Penny Jordan
  • A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland
  • So This Is Ever After by F.T. Lukens

Children’s Non-Fiction

  • A Walk Through the Rainforest by Martin Jenkins
  • Luminous: Living Things That Light Up the Night by Julia Kuo

I won’t be writing about each individual books for this wrap up. All the picture books, including the non-fic ones, were digital arcs. Some of them will make an appearance in Kino’s Xmas catalog this year! Maybe!

I’m already in a reading slump NOW, here in July, but looking at this I feel like my slump started around June - I was reading more comics, and only two of the 5 prose novels I read were ARCs. Both ARCs (A Taste of Gold and Iron and So This Is Ever After) were excellent reads, though.

I read a bunch of Marvel, catching up with some series I’ve left for awhile, and continuing my (re)reading of Jason Aaron’s Thor run - or rather, rereading the Jane Foster bits, and reading the other bits for the first time.

Aaaand my vision is now clouding over, so I’m going to end this newsletter here.
