checking in
This is going to be a quick one because I've a busy week behind me and a busier day ahead - I skipped last week because I was on a trip to Kuching with Daphne and Patricia. I was going to do a newsletter with just photos but then realised I didn't have anything that edits photos on my laptop and they're all too huge. (I could edit them on my work PC or on my phone, but too mendokusai, so I didn't.)
We went for the Borneo Cultures Museum, which was really impressive by Malaysian standards. There were 4 floors that were open - the 2nd floor had a children's exhibition, which was mostly about climate change; the 3rd floor was about the indigenous cultures of Borneo, and is probably my favourite; the 4th floor was mostly about preserving traditions and natural treasures and had lots of interviews with actual people which was interesting to watch; and the 5th floor was on "objects of desire" and had all these pretty things from trades in past centuries - I enjoyed reading about and looking at them but this part was the most like many museums I've been to, so it was also the least interesting of the four floors to me.
Overall? 4/5 would recommend!
I haven't been playing Animal Crossing much the last couple of weeks, but on the occasions that I do, I end up playing for hours. Today is probably one of those days as Arissa is over at my place and wants me to play with her.
I've recently reached my "150 sent" on Postcrossing which meant I could send 12 cards at a time, which meant I could send one card a week without worrying that I might get to zero, as the first card would have been received or expired by the time I sent the 12th. I really hate getting to zero. Speaking of Postcrossing though, lately I've been slightly active on their forums which is a kind of rare thing for me! I started swapping with a couple of people, including a user from Iran whose card I wasn't really that interested in, but I've never received anything from Iran before and I'm interested to see a stamp and cancellation.
Even though I've been slowing down and not keeping to my previous pace at going through my TBR ARCs, the last couple of weeks I've been requesting a LOT of new ARCs and downloading even more pre-approved ones. Mostly stuff I know I really want to read, or stuff I know I want to use for work, but still, now my unread ARC count is back in the 40s and it's my own fault.
The one I'm reading now is Jesse Q. Sutanto's Well, That Was Unexpected - I am only at chapter 2 but it's turning out to be slightly more spicy than I expected a YA contemporary to be. Which is fine because it's straight and I bet I can push this through in a promotion when a wholesome queer title would be contested...
This is it for now, stay safe! I'm still coughing a lot, so I hope none of you get sick ~
