The Long:
So, I've always been a night owl. and I'm a PROUD night owl! Someone's gotta hold it down while the morning people sleep!...I delight in the spaciousness and quiet of the later hours - a time when my thoughts and feelings can unfurl and get some breathing room without the distractions of the daytime to do's. THAT BEING SAID: I'm also heavily affected by the seasons and the weather...and with the dark and cold rolling in at 4:30pm, I get plenty of time for my after dark musings.
A couple months ago was my most recent mushroom journey and I got the hit that it was time for another morning person stint- and within a week I was effortlessly waking up early (in the 5s and 6s for the most part) and I'm rolling with it. (sometimes alarm assisted, mostly not)...and of course I let myself sleep later if I feel I need it!!
IN FACT, I'm rolling with it so hard that I'm having *crazy morning person ideas* like morning meditation group sessions in my living room!!!
AND SO, ♡ mmm cacao ♡ is born.
A gentle, grounded, connected, and intentional way to start the week.
We gather Mondays 7am to 8:30 in my living room. (December 18 is our kickoff!). We'll drink yummy cacao together mostly in quiet with a few gentle words, then settle into a 25-30 minute silent sit. Then we’ll come back into our shared space to share some reflections and or intentions for the day or week. Cost: $3. (for the cacao) No commitment needed. Just know you are welcome.

In other news: It's official. SAUNA SEASON is here! I barely sauna in the summer but when the colder temps come I'm in there almost every night before bed. It feels SO good and I sleep SO deeply post sauna! As a winter gift I'm offering discounted sauna sessions for the whole month of December. $20 per person for a private sauna session. hot sauna, outdoor cold shower, indoor hot shower, beautiful dressing room....towels/shower supplies/filtered water here for you! I'm currently taking a break from instagram which is a regular practice of mine since I have a long history of spending too much time on there! (am I addicted to internet humor?) I briefly logged in a couple times in the past weeks just to gather emails for this newsletter and to post about the sauna, but have been scroll free and as always, it feels really good to be taking a break.
On this note, for those of you who are on my fire circle email list, I'm going to do something a little different in January. I have been wanting to do a circle where we explore healthy tech habits for a WHILE now - but instead of just doing a one-off circle, I want to make it a 2 part series with the same group. One month apart.
When we gather for the first one, I'll do a brief talk on smartphone addiction and share with you about my personal journey around too much screentime, my experiences with tech-fasts, and systems that have worked well for me in the past. From there, we'll share in a group conversation on the matter…I know we’ll find each other’s shares highly relateable! Before closing, we will ALL set personal intentions for the next month- some sort of a stretch that's also for sure achievable like:
keeping phone out of the bedroom & using alarm clock
taking a social media break or committing to clear boundaries
turning phone off after a certain time each night
waiting til after our morning practice to check phone
etc etc etc!! limitless options!!!
and THEN , we will come back together a month later and reflect in group space about our shifts- what we experienced, what we learned, what we were challenged by, and how we want to move forward from there! I think this series might be popular so I might do a couple different groups w the same model!
