cozy cavebear waking up

DEAR COMMUNITY!

Hiiiiiiii!

OK, I finally did it.  I've been talking about it for about 3 weeks.  I finally got out of bed ;) - and walked STRAIGHT OUT THE DOOR upon waking, for my 12 minute walk around the block.  Yep, in my PJs, bleary eyed, morning face forward…SLEEPYBEAR ON THE MOVE people.  This was a first, and so we're all gonna hear about it.

I love playing with the morning routine...I've gone through many phases and renditions through the years, whether it's more regimented or fluid, there's still always routine involved.  I think it's fun and interesting to change it up over time, being flexible with what feels right for different times of the year and times in my life.  But one thing is for sure, across the board:  I'm a slow morning kind of girl.  If I have a morning commitment, I wake up at least 2 hours prior so that I have spaciousness to go slowly.  But what I'm working with *RIGHT NOW*, is that I am lingering in bed under the covers for longer than I want to be.  Like, I'm fully awake - but, clearly, stuck in THE MOST LITERAL COMFORT ZONE.  Under the covers in a sea of pillows and blankets!

So, as my cozy-cavebear-habit has been on my mind, when a friend of mine told me about some Andrew Huberman thing about going outside for 15 min immediately upon waking...ya know, to do some body + daylight communication (to regulate sleep and wake cycles/hormones), my interest was piqued.  I've done plenty of morning walks through the years as part of a routine, but never immediately upon waking before brushing teeth/washing face/getting dressed/drinking warm water.

This morning was my grand entrance into Going Outside Upon Waking Up and I have to admit- I'm feeling RATHER LIVELY this morning - its notable to the point that it's moving me to write my first newsletter in months soooooo I thought you too might be interested in exploring this invitation to get outside for a little walk in YOUR cozy PJs with sleep in YOUR eyes!! I'm excited to continue to explore this myself, and if you give it a try too I'd love to hear how it goes for you!

**update** I wrote this 4 days ago, I’ve done it 4 days in a row and it’s going VERY WELL!!!!! Getting up within 5 min of waking and straight out the door. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! It’s felt incredibly effective at fully waking me up, and it just very simply feels great.

In other news, after some months of winter bear cave dwelling, inspirations and musings are arising from my quietude. As ideas have had time to hibernate inside of me, they are growing bigger. One way this is showing up is how I want to be sharing here.  I want to go deeper, which means I will be exploring big topics over several emails to a.) share my fullest expression b.) mind the modern day attention span ;)

My next several newsletters I'll be speaking to Modern Day Tech Addiction.  First, my own history around tech addiction and when I "woke up" for the first time to how the screens were affecting my relationship with Life All Around Me.  From there I'll be sharing about my most recent experiment - "A Day Out Of Time" ... taking full day breaks from all tech use AND time (covering all the clocks in the house and car) (SPOILER ALERT: TOTALLY EPIC). This one-day retreat can serve in so many ways, with reconnecting with Self at the top of the list. (CANNOT WAIT TO DISCUSS THIS).  From there I'll be sharing some of the adjustments to tech use that I've played with through time, and introducing a collection of in-person-gatherings centering the topic of healthy tech habits so we can all vibe out on something we can ALL relate to and support one another in adjusting our tech use!

My next series after that I'll be diving into Bodywork For Emotional Healing / Bodywork as Ceremony, and perhaps after that I'll finally start to talk about psychedelics here, from my perspective, after 20 years of personal exploration and 5 years of working with them professionally.  STAY TUNED!!!!!!!
