Good Job, the affirmation
Start listening for the words “good job,” and you’ll begin to hear them everywhere. To a coworker after a particularly good presentation. In a Slack message about a launch. To your partner for making a great meal. To your cat when they make it to the top of the stairs before you do. They’re two great words, and they’re great to say. Seriously, start listening for them.
I might not consider myself a person who is into affirmations, but I do believe in the power of words. And seeing and hearing “good job,” even entirely devoid of the context of the book has been interesting. I noticed it at the boxing gym, where I had my obligatory “Good Job” sticker on my water bottle. It was a little validating message to see after I’d gone ten rounds on the heavy bag. Way to go, me.
So I made some merch. Sure, it’s for the book (buy the book, now 25% off through the holiday weekend! with the code GOODJOB25, but like I said, the words go beyond the book. It’s a little affirmation, a little validation. It’s to remind yourself you did a good job and to tell other people as well. Good job. You’re doing great. Keep going. Keep at it.
Good words. Good merch.

Also, because I’m me, I made some merch with a different tone as well. Beyond the tote, the hat, the mug, and the notecard, I’ve got some pencils. “Write your own story,” “Non-linear career paths are cool,” and the very popular “LinkedIn is a trash fire,” because it is.
It’s all on sale on the site, https://sternlyworded.com/store.
PS. I owe you all an update on Alcatraz. I did the swim! Accomplished in just under an hour on October 13th. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
