My niece won her election for third grade class president. (There are serious recess issues that need to be addressed, OK?) Some boys in her class are now giving her shit about her last name, because they can't think of anything else to pick on her about. So I told her that, according to BREAKING NEWS this week, there is a very good chance that she (sigh, we) are related to Taylor Swift, because my mother's side of the family also goes back to 1600s Windsor, CT. She can rub that in their snotty little faces, I guess. (LitHub)
There are many "things our exes did, and we still stayed" videos on TikTok, but this one is my favorite. Here's part two. I can't explain why this is so funny. Maybe because the alternative is complete despair? (TikTok)

"I spent months in an all-consuming affair with a man who refused to meet me in person. How did this happen?" Anna Holmes (yes, the Jezebel founder) has quite a story here. (New Yorker)
On men's muscle dysmorphia and "bigorexia." Supposedly social media is making this worse, but dudes were dropping dead at my SF gym from steroid-induced "accidents" long before Instagram existed. Maybe I would have more sympathy for these men if they didn't otherwise benefit from the patriarchy and/or could touch their toes. (USA Today)
For DC area people: If you like alcohol and ice cream Tipsy Scoop is delicious. They do cocktails with ice cream but no milkshakes (yet). (Instagram)
I just finished A Brief History of Seven Killings, a book someone recommended to me after I saw the Bob Marley movie. It's fiction, based on Jamaican history and politics, and Marley is a minor character called "The Singer." The book is neither brief nor limited to seven killings, but I couldn't put it down.
