Summer Virtual Symposium information: Attendee registration, schedule and Zoom links, and Bingo!
The MAPACA 2025 Summer Virtual Symposium, an online event open to all our participants, will take place on July 20, 2025.
Attendee Registration
Registration for presenters is now closed, but attendee registration is available at a modest $30 rate! For more information and to register as an attendee, visit mapaca.net.
Virtual Symposium schedule and Zoom Links
You can view the schedule for the Virtual Symposium by clicking this link, which should ask you to log in at mapaca.net. Once there, click on the Session title to view the Zoom link in the session.
A note about the schedule and times: If you are not logged in, the schedule times are EDT. If you are logged in, the times in the schedule are in the time zone you chose in your profile, as indicated in the online schedule, which might not be EDT! If you prefer always seeing everything in EDT, you can change your time zone at Your profile > Edit.
Bingo!
As you attend the symposium on Sunday, why not play Bingo?!
Use this link to generate your own bingo card and play along. If you get bingo head over to the Tech Support Zoom room to turn your card in. The first regular Bingo! and the first Blackout (all squares covered) get a MAPACA shirt. Even if you aren’t first, you can turn in your winning Bingo card by 5:30 in the Tech Support Zoom room to receive a MAPACA sticker (max one prize per person).

Call for proposals:
Proposals are welcome on all aspects of popular and American culture for inclusion in the 2025 Mid-Atlantic Popular & American Culture Association (MAPACA) conference in Philadelphia, PA. Single papers, panels, roundtables, and alternative formats are welcome.
Proposals should take the form of 300-word abstracts, and may only be submitted to one appropriate area. For a list of areas and area chair contact information, visit the Areas page on our website. General questions can be directed to mapaca@mapaca.net. The deadline for submission is July 31, 2025.
MAPACA’s participants are comprised of college and university faculty, independent scholars and artists, and graduate and undergraduate students. MAPACA is an inclusive professional organization dedicated to the study of popular and American culture in all their multidisciplinary manifestations. It is a regional division of the Popular Culture and American Culture Association, which, in the words of Popular Culture Association founder Ray Browne, is a “multi-disciplinary association interested in new approaches to the expressions, mass media and all other phenomena of everyday life.”
