Newsletter #7 – ARIA 1.3, Game Design Lessons and Dreamed Away
¡Hola, amigos!
Back again with another packed issue full of code, games, learning, and even some international support!
Things I’ve Been Doing
This month has been intense with many projects wrapping up, a lot of shipping, and keeping pace at work thanks to the European Accessibility Act. We have been learning a lot about the limits of accessibility and how to push past them, which has been inspiring.
I have continued to tinker with the Pixel Whiteboard, which is getting closer to something I really enjoy using for world-building and story planning. Or even for defining the skeleton of a project in front of a client!
I also built a small Collaborative World Prototype 🌐 by following a tutorial about creating an Among Us-style game with Phaser. It was fun to hack something together and see it work live. Let’s see what I do at the end with it.

About some clients
One client project started recently, and another client who had previously disappeared for personal reasons came back. Now I am juggling both projects, and both use Sanity CMS and Next.js (it is such an amazing DX). Every time I work with them I discover new ideas for improving my own CMS project.
About international support
A few days ago I received an email from a developer in China asking for permission to translate some of my blog posts into Chinese and include a link back to my site. It felt really good to see my content reaching people around the world.
About translation
I have also been working as the Spanish localizer for the game Dreamed Away. It has been a rewarding and very time-consuming project that will keep me busy for the next couple of months.
As you can see, it’s been a craaaaaazy month. I am looking forward to taking a short break in August to recharge.
By the way, I have decided to give a space in my newsletter to post here some resources that I consider cool. So here we go:
Resources of the Month
React Tailwind UI Libraries I Love
Untitled UI, thanks to Diego for showing me this one
React Bits, my favorite for inspiration
Other Resources
Devouring Details. This course is an excellent manual for curious designers/developers who want to dive in the world of interactions.
Blog Posts
What’s New in ARIA 1.3. This post explains what is coming with ARIA 1.3 and what it means for accessibility.
Game Design Notes. Here I share lessons from Designing Games by Tynan Sylvester along with reflections and examples.
That’s all for now!
If you do not hear from me until September, it will be probably because Spain trapped me pretty well and I did not come back to my workplace!
Take care until then!
Best,
Manuel
