January 2026 Update

December Recap

December focused on practical, everyday designs that solve small but real problems. The kind of parts that don’t look exciting on a shelf, but get used constantly once printed.

  • Customizable Furniture Leg – A parametric replacement for damaged or mismatched furniture legs, designed to extend the life of existing pieces.
  • Custom-Fit Gasket – Generate the exact gasket you need for sealing, repair, or prototyping instead of buying multipacks.
  • Screw-In Cable Clip Loop – A simple, customizable cable organizer for low-voltage wiring using hardware you already have.
  • TPU Furniture Foot – A flexible foot that reduces vibration, protects floors, and improves grip where rigid plastics fall short.

The Community Printer Program also welcomed a new member, Jollin from Filaments and Things. The program continues to connect people with local printers, helping reduce shipping, avoid waste, and get practical parts faster.

On the content side, more short testing and experiment videos went out this month, sharing real-world print results and lessons learned across YouTube and Instagram.

Looking Ahead to January

January kicks off with a new parametric battery holder. Set your battery size, choose the number of rows and columns, and generate a dispenser that fits your space and storage needs exactly.

This design will also be one of the first to take advantage of Fusion 360’s new parametric text feature. That means text can be embossed directly into the model at generation time, making labeled containers and organizers more useful without extra slicer steps.

More broadly, the focus continues on simple, purpose-built designs. Parts that print reliably, solve a clear problem, and reduce the need to buy something new. Utility over novelty, every time.

On the platform side, I’m continuing to explore:

  • Selectable design variants (for example, choosing a style before generating a file).
  • Displaying preview dimensions directly in the 3D viewer to reduce misprints and iteration time.

2025 in Review

Before moving fully into the new year, it’s worth pausing to look back. Quantifying it feels a bit surreal, but here we are.

  • 41 designs released
  • Two major website redesigns
  • The founding of the Community Printer Program
  • Multiple platform and infrastructure improvements
  • Four new site features added
  • Over 1,000 new followers
  • More than 100 videos published

2025 was the first year Lunar Prototypes was truly built in public. From early supporters, to conversations at 3DPrintopia, to thoughtful comments and suggestions, the community directly shaped this project.

Thank you for following along, printing the designs, and sharing ideas. Here’s to continuing that momentum into 2026.

Thanks for Being Here

Whether you’re printing parts, sharing feedback, or just following along quietly, I appreciate you being part of this. The goal remains the same: practical designs, reduced waste, and tools that fit real life.

If you’d like early access or want to support the project directly, you can do that on Patreon. More experiments, refinements, and quietly useful designs are ahead.

Have a problem that needs a simple fix? Reply anytime. That’s where many of the best designs start.
