February 2026 Update
January Recap
January focused largely on platform and infrastructure work: server upgrades, security updates, and new features. While much of this happens behind the scenes, it supports faster iteration and smoother customization as new tools roll out.
On the design side, parametric text made its debut on the Battery Holder, allowing text to be generated directly into the model at creation time.
Several new design generators were also released:
- Replacement Caster Wheel – Create a functional replacement when off-the-shelf parts fail or don’t fit.
- Replacement Board Game Piece – Replace missing or damaged pieces instead of shelving the game.
- Circular Cable Clip – A simple, customizable clip for organizing cables using common hardware.
Looking Ahead to February
February’s work centers on making small, everyday objects easier to customize and produce at scale. Several new designs are in progress, including adhesive-mounted solutions and a customizable drawer system.
On the platform side, a new feature is in development based on a suggestion from David from your3dprintguy: batch processing for design generation.
Batch processing is about saving time when the problem stays the same but the dimensions or details change, making it easier to generate sets of functional parts without repeating the same steps.
Community and Feedback
The Discord functions as a workshop more than a social space. It’s where problems get shared, ideas get tested, and designs are iterated before they’re fully baked.
If you have a practical issue in your shop, home, or workspace that could benefit from a custom or adjustable part, that’s the best place to start the conversation.
Supporting Ongoing Development
Lunar Prototypes is built iteratively. Support on Patreon helps fund continued development, infrastructure costs, and the time required to refine designs and build new tooling.
Patreon supporters also get early access to new designs and experiments as they come together.
