Issue 9: Dizzy
Welcome to the ninth issue of Everything Is Made Up.
Good morning/afternoon/evening to everyone. This is the ninth issue of my newsletter but for many of you, it's the first. If you missed the previous 8 editions, you can read them all here:

This issue is dedicated to Dizzy Gillespie because he was the next name on my newsletter names list and he’s a legend.
As always, I’m going to try and keep things short this time but if you have any suggestions for what you’d like to see more or less of, let me know!
Okay, enough prattle. Let’s get cracking!
For The Mind
The Cube Rule of food - Is a hot dog a sandwich?
Xavier Woods doesn’t think so but New York State Department of Taxation and Finance does. And then the idea evolved into Twitter conversations and eventually, The Cube Rule of Food Identification.
Discriminator - an interactive documentary about facial recognition algorithms trained on Flickr’s facial database.
A Visual History of Daft Punk's Helmets - This is a little outdated as it doesn’t include the Random Access Memories helmets but it’s still cool to see the older ones in all their glory.
For The Ears
I've been bumping this since it came out last year. VII is made up of Final Fantasy VII samples and Japanese movie clips and it's so good (if you're into beats like I am).
For the jazz lovers, I recommend Nick Hakim & Roy Nathanson's Small Things. Nick Hakim put out a very good album last year which I loved and this one sees him pair up with jazz saxophonist Roy Nathanson. It's a blend of R&B, jazz, and dreamy pop and all done on the cusp of last year's lockdown.
Benny Sings does pop so well without it being too saccharine or lifeless. He had the likes of Tom Misch and Emily King joining him and it's another great album with some R&B and hip hop vibes through, much like City Pop from 2019.
For The Eyes
Well, I’m gonna make like rain and get the hail out of here. Thanks for reading and join me next time for more of the same. Any comments or suggestions, get in touch! And if you'd like to help out with my content creation endeavours,
